Hi everyone!
Im pleased to annouce (as you can see) that Version 4 of the SAO website is now up and running!
As you can also see it's still under construction, but theres a few taster banners to give you a heads up on whats in store, plus more!
SO! we have a new site, what does this mean?
It means a few things actually, first a foremost, its more secure, which is always a good thing. The new engine that the site runs on means its WAAAAAYYYYY easier to update the components/plugins/modules which make up the site, which makes my job a lot easier. Not just that though, theres also lots of new/better/improved features for you lot, as you will see over the forthcoming months as the site takes shape.
The site is currently in beta, which means theres still plenty of bugs to be found, so please bear with me. Another thing i should point out, is that unfortunatly the "extended" fields to our profiles (such as what makes up the clan rosters etc) have been lost during the migration. Once ive got the new profiles fully sorted, they will need filling in again, though this time they'll be way better than before, integrating things such as Facebook, Steam, Games For Windows Live, Twitter, SAO Left 4 Dead Stats, Battlefield Stats, and of course your SAO Site Account.
In the meantime, have a look around, and check out the new "Blogs" feature available to every member via the members' menu. It lets you write mini-articles which are published directly to the website, and in time these will be linked to the forums in a similar way to how SAOTV used to be (which is also making a comeback better than before!). Be it a tip/guide/rant or observation in life, you can use the blogger to share your thoughts with other SAO crew.
