Hello, I'm the new addition to the SAO writing staff, I thought for a while what would I write about, and I came to conclusion that it had to be gaming diaries. I love that non strict gaming journalism that you can't get from a review, preview or any kind of one page article about a game.

I picked up Far Cry and Far Cry 2 all bundled together nicely for a six pack of beers price and while the first of the series is a bit too old for me (especially when you have the option to play the second one) I thought I'll get the moneys' worth of enjoyment out of the successor. And I just eventually found the time and devotion to try out the game, and well, I'm taking you along for the ride, so buckle up, those savannah roads might have a few bumps...

Day 1

I don't really remember how I ended up in this hotel, I think I.. well never mind, especially when there's literally bullets flying over my head, I better find something to shoot with and go outside have a look at what's going on. I manage to get my hands on some rusty equipment, that well... jams after I shoot two rounds, and take my word on it, people are tougher than they look, the guy that I managed to hit with one of the bullets really didn't seem to like it and decided to test if his rusty shotgun will jam before he hits me. Oh and I nearly forgot, heard about malaria? Yeah I got it, and to make matters even better I don't have any pills for it. Yeah... not the best of starts. A few minutes into the firefight I collapse due to malaria and lose my consciousness.

I wake up and immediately see a creepy guy standing in a doorway just staring at me. To make matters worse I'm in some kind of a backroom of a meat warehouse, this sounds exactly as it looks, not good. He tells me to clean out my wound before it gets infected, I just noticed that I got scratched by a loose bullet. As he keeps talking about errands and whatnot I figure out a strange thing about this black continent, according to him I just killed a few of his guys back at the hotel, and all he wants from me is a few errands done? Lives sure are cheap if I can get away with murder by delivering pizza and fixing his car...

Well that wasn't all that he wanted, it seems that I also have to take my newly found weapons (conveniently placed on a table in the warehouse) and get rid of some APR guys a few miles down the road. Oh you might think who are APR and what did they do to earn the wrath of some warehouse keeper? APR is Alliance for Popular Resistance, one of the two factions fighting in the civil war, the other one is United Front for Liberation and Labour, a.k.a. UFLL. Well as I don't get to choose which side to support, I guess I'd better get rid of those guys down the road before I collapse from malaria again. Will I get shot, die from malaria, get eaten by crocodiles or get set on fire? Or maybe it will go entirely the other way, we'll see.

Love you mum,

Marty
